Romantic Love and Satisfying Sex Lives – Not Just for the Young

senior picWith Valentine’s Day approaching images of young love abound. But romantic love is not exclusive to young people.

“Many older couples actually find their sex lives to be more satisfying in later years,” says Michael S. Patriarco, DO, of St. Luke’s Center for Advanced Gynecologic Care. “As children move out and work responsibilities lessen, older adults have more time to nurture their relationship with their partners. They may feel less stress, enabling them to relax and enjoy one another more fully.”

Life Gets Easier for Senior SEPTA Users

Septa logo v2It’s not often we can say life is getting easier, but with the rollout of the new SEPTA senior fare program,  SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority) just added convenience for senior users age 65 and older.  
Effective November 14, 2016, the SEPTA senior photo ID card gives seniors free access to subways, buses and trolleys with a "tap-and-go", without having to show their ID to a cashier or operator. Under SEPTA’s Travel Wallet plan, SEPTA Key cards were introduced in June to the general public, with plans to eventually replace all of SEPTA's fare systems, including tokens.

The Little Things in Life

writing 325x215“I’m watching the sun try to claw its way through the wintry-mix winter sky.” Christmas decorations, presents, desserts, simple things like soap and water bring scant comfort. The pain and associated immobility, with the resultant loss of work and daily functions, cry out for the spotlight in a home theater that is set no differently than it was in healthier days.”
These are thoughts I jotted down a couple weeks ago, when the holidays were high and my spirits were low. Over Christmas vacation, I was hit hard with the first and worst cold I’ve had in 10 years.

Unsung Heroes to be Recognized

They might volunteer at a shelter or a soup kitchen or in any one of the many ways in which we can help others. The remarkable thing about these people is that they do not do it for recognition.

USS Pueblo Survivor Marks 49th Anniversary

That was my question when I met with Frank Ginther, US Navy Communications Technician on the USS Pueblo. The 83-man crew of the Pueblo were captured off the coast of Korea in on January 23, 1968 and were held for 11 months with little hope of release.
